Consumer Goods Pressure Sensors
The operating environments of pressure sensors for consumer products are widely varied. They often include the need for sensors that are made to withstand heat, wet environments, cold, and corrosive environments. Those that are used in smartphones to measure pressure for GPS enhancement must be accurate to within 0.1%. However, generally, the accuracy requirements in the consumer products segment of the sensor market have less stringent needs in this respect, compared to other industries, such as aerospace and medical. 

Pressure sensors in consumer products can be found in home appliances, such as coffee machines, washing machines, and refrigerators. In washing machines, they are used to regulate the water that is needed, and this can amount to significant water savings. Temperature and pressure are the keys to making the perfect cup of coffee, and machines now use pressure sensors to make perfect brew every time. New refrigerator technology seals the food inside and reduces the pressure to keep food fresh for longer. 

They are also found in vacuum cleaners to tell the user when the bag needs to be changed. Pressure sensors can also be found in telecommunications devices. For instance, barometric pressure sensors are used to enhance the accuracy of GPS devices. 

Pressure sensors are used in home weather stations to provide precise, pinpoint weather information. For instance, atmospheric pressure can be used to predict the likelihood of local rain. The HVAC industry uses pressure sensors to tell consumers when the furnace filters need to be replaced. You can also find pressure sensors in baby monitors, smart speakers, and smart thermostats. These are only a few examples of how pressure sensors are used in consumer products, and the list continues to grow at a rapid pace.
